Who we are

WPAZ facilities.

On December 10, 2009, Pottstown's beloved radio station, WPAZ, was taken off the air due to lack of sufficient revenue generated for its owner, Great Scott Broadcasting. Many will agree that silencing the station has created a huge void in the community. To this end, the WPAZ PRESERVATION ASSOCIATION is being formed to organize and initiate the purchase of WPAZ from Great Scott and once more return this Pottstown institution to the airwaves as a true voice for our area. We intend to not only have the station once again provide local news, sports and entertainment, but to also become closely involved in local events, issues, and cultural activities. Pottstown will once again have a live forum to be heard, communicate, and evolve as a community.

Funds must be raised immediately to secure our claim of the station. We have been in close contact with Mitchell Scott, owner of Great Scott Broadcasting, about our intentions. He has been very amenable and supportive to our cause, and would be happy to hand the station over to the citizens of Pottstown so that this vital service can be restored. However, as a business entity, they are also interested in selling the station to the highest and quickest bidder. Time is indeed of the essence here.

In order to get WPAZ back on the air, we must band together. Any financial help from local businesses and private donors is crucial to see that this goal is achieved. we are planning many fundraising activities starting this spring (2010) in partnership with various businesses and events around Pottstown, including the Sunnybrook Foundation. To find out who, what, where and when, go to the "events" page and join our Facebook page. We invite everyone in the area to attend these events and lend any kind of support that you can.

Support us now, and we will support you many times over in the years to come.

The WPAZ Preservation Association will also be working in conjuction with other associations to fund projects which need ongoing community support.......
